Our video production process
Great video does not happen by accident. It is the product of careful planning, creative collaboration, and disciplined execution. Here is how we take your project from initial spark to final delivery.
Six steps to a finished video
Every project follows a proven workflow that keeps timelines tight, budgets transparent, and creative quality consistently high. While we adapt to the unique demands of each engagement, these six phases form the backbone of every production we undertake.
Discovery and strategy
We begin with a thorough discovery session — typically a 60- to 90-minute conversation — where we learn about your brand, audience, goals, and competitive landscape. What message do you want to communicate? What action should viewers take after watching? What platforms will the video live on? These answers shape every creative decision that follows.
At the end of this phase, we deliver a creative brief that captures the project scope, target audience profiles, key messages, tone of voice, and success metrics. This document becomes the north star for the entire production.
Concept and scripting
With the brief approved, our creative team develops two to three concept directions. Each concept includes a narrative outline, visual mood board, and sample script excerpt so you can evaluate the tone and style before we commit to a single direction. We encourage honest feedback at this stage because changes here cost nothing compared to changes on set.
Once a concept is selected, we write the full script — including dialogue, narration, on-screen text, and scene descriptions — and present it for your review. We refine until every line serves the story and the strategy.
Pre-production planning
This is the logistical engine of any successful shoot. We scout locations, cast talent if needed, create detailed shot lists and storyboards, arrange equipment, and build a minute-by-minute shooting schedule. Our production coordinator handles permits, insurance, catering, and travel so nothing falls through the cracks.
You receive a pre-production packet that includes the finalised schedule, crew roster, equipment manifest, and a clear breakdown of what we need from your side on shoot day. Preparation at this level is what separates amateur productions from professional ones.
Production — the shoot
Shoot day is where months of planning come to life. Our crew arrives early to set up lighting, audio, and camera positions. We work efficiently and respectfully, keeping disruption to your workspace or location to an absolute minimum. Directors guide talent through each scene, cinematographers capture every angle on the shot list, and sound engineers ensure pristine audio.
Depending on the project, we may shoot across multiple days and locations. Throughout the process, you are welcome on set to observe and provide real-time feedback. At the end of each day, we back up all footage to redundant drives — we never risk losing a single frame.
Post-production and editing
Our editors assemble a rough cut within five to seven business days of wrapping the shoot. This first assembly focuses on story structure, pacing, and narrative flow. After your feedback, we move to a fine cut that incorporates colour grading, sound design, music licensing, motion graphics, lower thirds, and subtitles.
We typically allow for two rounds of revisions at each stage. Our colour grading suite uses DaVinci Resolve to ensure broadcast-standard colour accuracy, and our sound engineers mix in a treated room for balanced, professional audio. The result is a video that looks and sounds as good as anything you would see on a major streaming platform.
Delivery and distribution
Once the final version is approved, we export the video in every format and resolution you need — from 4K masters to platform-specific encodes for YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, and your website. We also provide thumbnail options, caption files, and a short written guide on best practices for publishing.
If you have engaged us for a distribution strategy, our team will schedule uploads, write optimised descriptions and tags, and monitor early performance metrics. We stay available for 30 days after delivery to handle any adjustments or re-exports at no additional charge.
What sets our workflow apart
Many production companies treat the creative process as a black box — you hand over a brief and receive a finished video weeks later with little visibility in between. We take the opposite approach. Transparency and collaboration are woven into every phase of our workflow.
You have access to a shared project dashboard where you can track milestones, review drafts, leave time-coded comments directly on the video, and approve deliverables. No more lost email threads or ambiguous feedback. Every decision is documented, and every revision is tracked.
We also assign a dedicated producer to your project from day one. This person is your single point of contact, responsible for keeping the schedule on track, managing the creative team, and ensuring your vision is faithfully translated to the screen. You will never be passed between departments or left wondering who to call.
Frequently asked questions
We get asked these questions on nearly every discovery call. If your question is not listed here, feel free to reach out — we are always happy to chat.
Most projects take between four and eight weeks from kickoff to final delivery. A simple social media clip might be completed in two weeks, while a multi-location brand film could take ten to twelve weeks. We provide a detailed timeline during the proposal phase so there are never surprises.
Pricing depends on scope, complexity, and deliverables. A single-day shoot with standard editing typically starts around $3,500 CAD, while larger campaigns can range from $10,000 to $50,000 or more. We always provide a transparent, itemised quote before any work begins, and we never charge hidden fees.
Not unless you want to. We have a roster of professional on-camera talent, voice-over artists, and presenters. If you prefer to feature your own team members, we coach them through the process so they feel comfortable and natural on camera.
Absolutely. Our post-production services are available as a standalone offering. Send us your raw footage and we will handle editing, colour grading, sound design, graphics, and delivery. We work with files from virtually any camera system.
We include a 30-day post-delivery support window at no extra cost. During this period, we will make minor adjustments, re-export files, or swap out graphics free of charge. For larger changes beyond that window, we offer competitive hourly editing rates.
